How to Animate Still Photos Using the PhotoSlice Technique, blog post by Darius Stevens Wilhere

Alright! So in this episode I am going to show you how I did the "photoslicing technique" that I used in the video that I did for my good friend Serge Ramelli which you can find here:

Now there are a lot of other things happening in that video, but the primary thing that is happening is that I am using Photoshop and After Effects to break apart and put photos back together in an interesting fashion.

There are lots of drag and drop slideshow generators out there and I really wanted to create a certain handcrafted look that I felt would help it stand out. You can judge whether or not that fully worked but I think it turned out quite well.

Now in this video, I don't go into full detail as to how I did it from start to finish because it takes about two hours. But I do still cover the basics of each phase and show you what to do in After Effects which is where I think most people would need the instruction.

For those who want the start to finish walkthrough, including all the details of how I used Premiere to create a timing file, how to use Photoshop to do the actual photoslicing step by step and how to animate and add text in Premiere; well I made a course to show you it's done. You can find it on my course page here
